We got up
around 8:00am and then ate with the kids (well those of us who
chose to get up early) and then had free time until 10:00 when
we left to head out for prayer time at Tito’s main church. We
arrived around 10:00 where we broke up into smaller groups of
3-4 people and we spent a little while praying for various
topics given to us through cards. At 11:00 the
worship started and we all clapped along and tried our best to
sing. After worship, Tito gave his sermon. Here in Tacna, the
services last about 2 hours including all of the worship and the
sermon time as well. After the service,
we all walked down to the concrete slide where we played for
about 20 minutes. From the slide, we walked to El Pollon (the
famous Chicken place) where we all ate together with Tito and
some of the other pastors while watching the world cup game.
From here, the team went back to the church to take a break
until 4:30 when the next service started at the church we are
staying at (Ciudad Nueva Service). At 4:30
the service started and the worship began the set of another
long sermon. When Tito got up to
speak, the ninos (kids) left and went downstairs for craft time
where some of our team went with them to help out. After that,
we played with the kids for a little while and then at 7:30 all
left to go play soccer at a field nearby. We did pretty good
scoring 4 goals on the Peruvians which is very very good
considering that this is their national sport and we are
horrible at it. We played for a few hours and then came back to
the church and ate dinner together and then had some worship
time. After worship we sat around and talked about
the trip and had a short lesson from our devotional journals.
Then around 12:00am we finally went to bed to wrap up a long
day.
