Today we got up at 8:00, ate at 8:30, and then left at 9:00. We
loaded into the bus and headed for the church in Nueva Jerusalem
where we would start our long day of work. We broke up into
about 5 different teams and started on various tasks. Chris V.,
Chris C., and Mike A. (the three strong guys) went with Tito for
a nice heavy lifting job of getting the rocks and dirt to make
cement off the ground at an off site location and into bags to
bring back with them. Each bag weighed differently but Chris
said they were like 100 pounds each which made it really tough.
Another team stayed inside the church an worked on painting the
walls. Another team was outside building walls to make a house.
Another team was on the other side of the building digging out
dirt and breaking through rock to extend a nice big hole further
back to make a kitchen for the church. And the last group went
off site to work on moving some dirt. A little later on when all
of the groups gathered back at the church, they all started
working on the breaking of rocks and dirt because that was the
biggest job and the most tiring one. At 1 we went back to the
church to eat a chicken and rice lunch, and then got to rest up
for an hour until 3 when we had to load back into the bus and
head back to continue working. At 6:00, the lady whose
house we built was so thankful that she made us this delicious
soup to eat and finish up a long day. After the soup, Marco (the
pastor of the church), Victor (the Caretaker of the church), and
Tito (the main pastor) all gave words of thanks to us and our
hard work. After thanks, we loaded into the bus, drove past the
house we built and then went back to the church. After dinner,
we had worship with some new instruments and then went to bed to
conclude a long, sore and tiring day.
