We were supposed to spend another day in construction, but an opportunity came up for us to perform at a couple schools, something we weren’t sure we would be able to squeeze in due to the holiday (their independence day is on the 28th) – all the schools were trying to finish their studies before the holiday and were likely having their own activities in celebration. Our first school consisted of a crowd of very young children (ages 3-6) who were somewhat scared of the mimes but absolutely loved the “títeres” (puppets). At the second school, which we visited around lunch time, they fed us lunch! The meal consisted of barley, alpaca and some vegetables, a very healthy combination. After lunch, all the “men” formed a transport line starting from Tito’s van and ending at a construction site (someone’s house). They literally threw bricks one at a time to each other up the hill. They finally met up with the girls at CEID for another session of English language exchange. From there we went to Culto.com for prayer and then to a soccer field about 30 minutes away (on foot) to play some “football” with everyone.
